The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) also known as “UT Arlington” is a public research university in Arlington, a city in Texas. The university was founded in 1895 by the University of Texas System.

As the largest university in North Texas and the second largest in The University of Texas System, UTA is located in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth and challenges our students to engage with the world in ways that have measurable impact.

UTA offers state-of-the-art facilities that encourage students to think critically. Through academic, internship, and research programs, our students gain real-world experiences that help them contribute to their community and ultimately the world.

We have more than 180 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, and more than 60,000 students walk through the UTA campus or participate in online courses each year. The UTA is the third largest producer of college graduates in Texas.

The university is classified as a ” Doctoral university – very high research activity“. As of fall 2021, the campus has an enrollment of 45,949 students, making it the largest university in North Texas and the fourth largest in Texas.

Campuses

The 420-acre main campus is located on the southern edge of downtown Arlington, which also includes the largest branch of the public library, City Hall, the Arlington Theater, the Levitt Pavilion, the Arlington Museum of Art, churches, and a variety of business types south of the Texas and Pacific Railroad, which was a city ​​founded.

The Barnett Shale formation sits beneath the campus and has earned the university millions of dollars from natural gas production since 2008.
These funds are used for scholarships, faculty recruitment, and campus infrastructure upgrades.
Trading House Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River, runs along the southern part of the site. Cooper Street runs through the campus and provides access to Interstate 20 and Interstate 30.

UTA Stadium, Globe Life Park in Arlington, Globe Life Field, Six Flags Over Texas, and the International Bowling Museum are two miles to the northeast.
The campus has a resident population of over 5,000, creating a vibrant 24/7 environment. A large number of students live in Arlington Hall, Kalpana Chawla Hall, Vandergriff Hall, West Hall, and many apartments on campus.

UTA Fort Worth Campus

UTA opened its historic and renovated downtown Fort Worth building for educational purposes in 2007. At starting, UTA offered only Masters of Business Administration courses but later expanded to offer multiple classes for several degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Fort Worth campus has more than 25,000 square feet of classrooms, services, and equipment.

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is located in Tarrant County, also known as the Midtown area. It is centrally located between Dallas (to the east) and Fort Worth (to the west). Arlington is easily accessible and located 30 minutes from the metroplex’s two major airports – DFW International Airport and Love Field. Less than two miles from AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park, home to the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, and less than three miles from Six Flags Over Texas, UTA is just a stone’s throw from the excitement the city has to offer.

Accreditation

The University of Texas at Arlington is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

There are 4 libraries at UTA, the Central Library, the Architecture, and Fine Arts Library, and the Science and Engineering Library.

The library’s collections include historical collections on Texas, Mexico, the Mexican-American War, and the greater Southwest. The extensive cartographic collection contains maps and atlases of the Western Hemisphere spanning five centuries.

Altogether, the special collections contain more than 30,000 volumes, 7,500 linear feet of manuscripts and archival collections, 5,000 historical maps, 3.8 million prints, and thousands of items in other formats. Some of the library’s rare and interesting materials are available online.
